Concerned over high food inflation, the food ministry said on Monday that it would brainstorm with the finance and agriculture ministries to identify areas putting pressure on prices and work out a solution to contain inflation.
The NGO, Right to Food Campaign, has written an open letter to the Prime Minister of India and his Council of Ministers, rejecting the EGoM-cleared draft of the Food Security Bill. In its letter, it has appealed to the PM to respond to the needs of hunger and malnutrition of women, children and excluded groups and to save the PDS and the farmers.

“High RCN prices have made cashews dearer for the processors. Factories which relied on the Indian cashew crops will have to pay high prices, due to which cashew kernel prices are likely to reach new highs after August,” a source from Achal Cashew Industries informed FnB News.
